Pushing Boundaries: Mountain Mummy & Olympian Skier Chemmy Alcott

Unpause the Menopause Podcast - Un pódcast de Morven Shaw - Martes

An inspirational mum of two, wife and BBC Ski Sunday Presenter…and, wait for it, 4x Olympian skier used to hurtling herself down mountains at 92mph. Regarded as Britain’s greatest ever female skier, Chemmy Alcott put her stake in the ground by becoming the first British Alpine Ski racer to win a world cup run.   I wouldn’t know where to begin with her accomplishments…her incredible skiing achievements are just the tip of the iceberg! Raising well over £800,000 for charity, she’s done the World’s Toughest Ski Race in Greenland, the 100-mile road race in London and climbed Mt Kilimanjaro.   24 hours of paddling down the Amazon River, anyone? My guest today certainly knows how to push beyond her limits. After being offered her dream job as she was ready to birth her first child, she had what to most would be an IMPOSSIBLE decision to make.   Having broken 49 bones in her life, she meets adversity head on and rises to the challenge, no matter what life throws her way. Aside from her BBC presenting, Chemmy is an inspirational speaker, runs her own business with her husband, 25-time British Champion Dougie Crawford, also a ski coach.   Her two boys, Locki 5 and Cooper 3, are central to her life, but we’ll explore why maintaining identity is so incredibly important to her.    I’m really excited and honoured to talk with her today…
