Our guest in this episode is award-winning voice actor, comedian, musician and writer, Alicyn Packard. Alicyn's voice can be heard on many popular animated television series including NBC’s Poppy Cat and Space Racers and Cartoon Network’s The Tom and Jerry Show and The Mr Men Show where she voiced Little Miss Sunshine, Little Miss Naughty and Little Miss Whoops. Alicyn is perhaps most recognizable to video game enthusiasts for her role as the Female Blood Elf in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. We start by discussing how Alicyn got into the industry and discover that she always had a penchant for reading out loud. Her first voiceover job was an e-learning gig that was eight months long and by the time that finished, she was hooked! She tells us about the importance of the authentic read but she believes it is also crucial to be able to create character voices as they will bring you more audition opportunities. Alicyn goes on to share with us her inspiration when it comes to sourcing new character voices and it might just surprise you! When it comes to auditions, Alicyn has a specific routine for getting in the zone and she tells us what she does to get the energy pumping in the booth.
