In reality, a significant 80% of oceanic plastic originates from inland sources through rivers and coastlines, driven by factors such as littering and overflowing bins.Furthermore, recent research highlights a pervasive littering issue in the North West, where over three-quarters of residents have witnessed discarded food containers and plastic bags along the roadsides.
