We’ve all made the well-intended pledge of ‘new year, new me’ – but often the thoughts of countless hours in the gym or a run outdoors in the cold means our new year’s resolutions often fade before the Christmas decorations make a return to the attic.More than a third of UK adults have, or plan to set a resolution to be physically healthier in 2023, despite many not feeling able to achieve this. Research has found that 15% of the nation set this as a resolution every year but have never been able to achieve it.As we approach 2023, only half of the nation (52%) rates their health as either excellent or good and fewer than half (47%) are happy with their body image.New research highlights how only half of the individuals (55%) are currently prioritising their health, with 1 in 5 of us (23%) feeling unhealthy when January arrives due to overindulging in the festive period.Data from Benenden Health highlights how a quarter of UK adults don’t know the right exercise for their bodies and fewer than a fifth of people (16%) signal that they love exercising.Sometimes it’s the little steps that can evolve into a positive change and through the ‘Time for a check in’ campaign, Benenden Health is on a mission to get everybody talking about and checking in with their health more, with the ultimate aim to get the nation talking about both their physical and mental.
