Season: 4 Episode: 11 Bousquet, who boxed under the name of Del Fontaine, was convicted and sentenced at the Old Bailey. His subsequent appeal, on the grounds that he was " punch drunk" through boxing, and insane at the time of the crime was dismissed. The good-looking Fontaine was found guilty of the crime and sentenced to death. The execution in London aroused great emotion. His friends and fellow boxers pleaded for his life, saying a man suffering from depression – and also possibly punch-drunk after 98 fights – was not responsible for his actions.Listen to this story and decide for yourself whether you think the law made the right decision.THIS PODCASTThis podcast has been specially edited from a Bradley Stoke Radio show in Bristol, England. If you liked it please leave a rating and maybe a comment and if you’d like to support the show with a donation, however small, you can go to Ko-Fi.comSome more great news for you, if you were interested in buying merchandise featuring the show’s logo, then pop over to Teepublic.com, you’ll find lots of things to choose from. So, thankyou for listening and until next time guys, take care and look after each other.CONTACT MEEmail: [email protected]: @BackTrackerUKInstagram: @backtrackerukTwitter: @BackTrackerUK-SOURCESDaily Herald - Saturday 20 July 1935Belfast Telegraph - Thursday 03 October 1935Western Daily Press - Wednesday 30 October 1935Daily Mirror - Wednesday 30 October 1935Bristish ExecutionsMindFloss-Sound Effects by zapsplat.comIntro music by The Model Folk © THE BACKTRACKER HISTORY SHOW 2023
