Hailing from Australia and spending much of his career in London, Paterson has recently transitioned to the United States in the last 3-4 years. Just before this, he faced one of the greatest challenges seen by the hotel industry: the COVID-19 pandemic. But the challenges of the pandemic only fueled Paterson, using his multi-decade experience in hospitality to convert Best Western hotels across Great Britain into hospitals for the peak of the lockdown, fostering an unprecedented sense of community and helping to make the world a better place for those in need.
