Cale Makar and Erik Johnson made their return to the lineup in Friday's matchup, and Makar once again showed himself to be the best defenseman in the NHL, and dominated Arizona en route to a 3-1 win. In the rematch, the Avalanche had to survive a third period collapse as the Coyotes dragged the game to a shootout, going a full seven rounds without a goal before Nichushkin's nasty hands ended the game for a 4-3 shootout win.
