Last Wednesday, Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm, knocking out power to 3.2 million people and killing at least eight. Two weeks earlier, Hurricane Helene ravaged the Southeast, killing more than 250 people and resulting in widespread devastation.
