WA gun laws take effect amid nation-wide rise in gun ownership

Western Australia's strict new gun laws have come into effect, including a ban on rapid-release firearms, following increased concerns over gun safety and fatal shootings across the state. A new buyback scheme is also being offered for other types of firearms for nine months from April 14   The reforms come as recent research from the Australia Institute shows a significant rise in gun ownership across the country.
