The US this week declared that members of one of the warring parties in Sudan's civil war - and its allied militias - have committed genocide in the African nation - which has seen tens of thousands of people killed in recent months and millions made homeless. The US has now imposed sanctions on the leader of the Rapid Support Forces, which has been fighting Sudan's government as it tries to expand its territory beyond the roughly half of Sudan it currently controls.
