Australia made global headlines after becoming the first country to ban social media for under 16s — and now in another world first new standards that put the onus on tech giants to monitor and remove harmful online content have come into force. The new codes cover the removal of child sexual abuse material and pro-terror content and so called 'nudify apps' — which use generative AI to create deepfake pornography.
