A shingles vaccine reduced the probability of new dementia diagnoses by around 20 per cent over seven years, according to a large-scale study of more than 280,000 people in Wales. The research came after previous studies found a link between herpes virus infections and an increased risk of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.
