Papua New Guinea will join the NRL in the 2028 competition after months of negotiations but the deal comes with significant caveats. Australia will commit $600-million dollars over 10 years to underwrite the team's development, with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and PNG Prime Minister James Marape jointly unveiling the plan in Sydney yesterday.
