Happy Full House Friday Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Oh Mylanta Holy Chalupas: An Unofficial Full House Fuller House Podcast. Today, we conclude Jesse's Musical Career Journey Series, with Full House S8E7: On The Road Again, which aired on November 8, 1994. In this episode when Danny finds out that D.J. is secretly dating the guitarist in Jesse's new band, Danny forbids her to continue. I was not a fan of this episode and really don't like the music that Jesse makes with his new band Hot Daddy and the Monkey Puppets. Not to mention the outfits or style he's going for with this new band is utterly atrocious. Absolutely can't stand Viper, he's wrong for DJ, and it's not just because he's not Steve. He seems so much older than DJ, I mean she's still in high school, even though Steve was in college when DJ and he broke up. He's too wild, and (spoiler alert) he actually breaks up with her when he feels things are going too fast for him. Jesse realizes his wild days are behind him when he takes Becky and the boys on a gig with him. He wants to relive his glory days (pre-Becky and the boys) days of rock n' roll that he had with the Rippers in 1987. He checks the band along with Becky and the boys into a grungy, moldy, outdated motel, that is so bad, it would make Norman Bates, inwardly cringe. Times have changed and so has he. He makes so many "I'm an old man" jokes, it gets old real quick. I'm like "dude, you're not even 30 yet", he complains more about his age in this episode than he does in Fuller House, claiming he's still got it, for someone in his 50's. Jesse and the band are in for a shock when he meets the owner of the club who is expecting Big Poppa and the Polka Puppies, not Hot Daddy and the Monkey Puppets. I couldn't help but picture golden retriever puppies dressed in lederhosen and barking in time to a polka song. Danny has a change of heart about Viper dating DJ when Viper steps up to help out Jesse (who fired him for dating DJ)when he is ordered to play polka music or vacate the venue. Turns out Viper was Tiny Hines in Big Hines and the Polka Dots as a kid. Jesse and the band don polka outfits and polka instruments and perform KISS's song "I Wanna Rock n' Roll All Night" Polka Style. Stephanie and Michelle try to figure out which of the Monkey Puppets that DJ is dating they see her talking to Mongo and assume she's with him. Umm, kids, Mongo is like 35 years old, that's gross. In fact that's just as or more so upsetting as her dating Viper. Mongo's like Danny's age. I hope you enjoy the podcast episode and have a great weekend! See you in August!
