The reality of life is that death ultimately comes for us all....We're beginning our deep dive into the 30th anniversary of the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival which is running both in person here in the streets of Toronto and virtually online from April 27th through May 7th at various venues around the city.  To kick it all off we deal with death in 'Undertaker for Life'.While there is no denying that it's a profession with a certain amount of job security, the role of mortician requires a deft touch across a myriad of disciplines both scientific and social.  As this film talks to a selection of people who have chosen this vocation we get a real sense of both humility and humor from these people who have dedicated their lives to death and in looking at the entire process we are reminded the importance of celebrating life even when the emotional and social difficulties that surround the end of someone's life is so very much a part of it.We had the unique pleasure of sitting down with director Georges Hannan to talk about his inspiration for the film, the importance of infusing it all with a sense of humor and so very much more. The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival runs from April 27th through May 7th here in Toronto.  Visit hotdocs.ca for more details.
