The big blue ball called Earth and the people who live on it are actually more adaptable then you might think...On this episode we sit down and talk with Writer/Director Christine Nielsen about her new film 'Nature's Big Year' which debuts TONIGHT Nov. 12th on CBC and CBC GEM.Nature's Big Year takes place across multiple locations, all across the world and is a fascinating look at how nature and the creatures who exist as a part of it all changed and adapted their habits during the strict COVID Lockdown last year. Lockdown helped turtles nest more successfully on Juno Beach, Florida. When humans changed their habits, wolves and their prey shifted theirs. Sea lions basked on the streets in an Argentinian port, and wild goats romped through the streets of a Welsh seaside town and geese got fatter and laid more eggs because they weren't being hunted. Even the birds were talking louder and prouder. We talked with Christine about the origins of the piece, working during COVID and the importance of listening to the world around us and paying attention to things that we tend to take for granted.See Nature's Big Year tonight Nov. 12th at 9PM on CBC and stream it on CBC Gem.
