Mariah Sinclair is an award-winning designer. During most of her career, she worked for advertising agencies as a designer and digital marketer serving Fortune 500 companies and the City of Los Angeles. Then she designed her first book cover in 2001. Now known as the “Queen of Cozy,” Mariah’s clients regularly dominate the top of the cozy mystery charts on Amazon.  Today, Mariah sometimes designs hundreds of pre-made covers and lists them for sale at once, earning thousands of dollars within minutes (and sometimes crashing her website in the process). In this episode, we talk about her first book cover design in 2001 and why it took 14 years to design her second how self-published authors earn their living, the role a book cover plays in the success of a book, how she built up her own clientele, and why always chasing a new Challenge wasn’t always a positive experience.
